We are not liable for any change in ferry timings as it is entirely controlled by the local administration.
Please note Andaman is a very remote destination with basic infrastructure, limited cars and ferry tickets, in case you would want to book transfer services through us then request you to kindly send us all passenger names and ages, for us to book the tickets well in advance as we will not be able to entertain any last minute transfer requests.
Please note government ferry ticket bookings open 02 days prior to the date of travel, however for foreign nationals tickets cannot be pre-booked, as RAP number is required to book the same. And RAP number can be obtained only on arrival at Port Blair airport.
If you would want a confirmed ferry ticket then you will have to book a flight that would enable you to board the Makruzz / Costal Cruise (private speed boat catamaran) at 0815 hrs / 0730 hrs respectively from Port Blair to Havelock. And the tickets for the same can be booked 01 month prior to the date of travel.
Please note for Indians, government ferry tickets can be bought 02 days prior to the date of travel and the same is subject to availability. This is to bring to your notice that we normally manage to book all tickets for our guests, however there are only once or twice a year we might not be able to book tickets due to unforeseen reasons or heavy rush. In such cases our liability will only to the value of the ticket. Guests will have to stay in Port Blair that night and depart the next day.
Government Ferry tickets can be booked only 02 days prior to the date of schedule.
Request you to kindly advice us at the time of booking if you would want to take the Government Ferry at 0900 hrs or 1630 hrs or the Makruzz. As there will be no refund on the ferry tickets that are already booked.
Makruzz from Port Blair – Havelock is at 0815 hrs and from Havelock to Port Blair is at 1600 hrs. Makruzz also operates a second sailing between October – March and the same is subject to load factor. Please note Makruzz tickets can be booked 01 month prior to your date of travel.
Faraway Tree shall only assist guests in regards to transfers, in any case of non availability of tickets or sailing gets cancelled, we are liable only to the value of the tickets. We would still help guests with alternate arrangements and guests can make payment directly.

Please note most of the times the administration issues more number of tickets than the number of seats, hence we would not be able to assure you a seat on the ferry, but shall make sure we get you a ticket on the ferry, subject to availability.
Government Ferry schedule is subject to change at the discretion of the administration and we do not have any control over the same, in such case we will not be responsible for the sailing. However we shall assist you for alternate arrangements and the guest can pay directly for the same. And we offer to book only the base category seats, subject to availability.
We have been notified that certain Indian missions need guests to fill a separate form as you are visiting Andaman. It is recommended that you declare while applying for the Visa that you will be visiting Andaman Islands during your visit to India.
For all foreign nationals, PIOs, NRIs, etc., RAP number has to be obtained on arrival at Port Blair airport after collecting the luggage and the same need not be applied in advance. There are two RAP counters at Port Blair airport.
Once you receive your Visa request you to kindly check and make sure that there is NO SEPARATE STAMP stating 'Entry to Restricted Areas Not Permitted'. The same will appear as a preprinted line and that is fine, in case the above line has been stamped separately then request you to kindly contact the embassy and do the needful.
Visa regulations are Government requirement, in case you will have to return back from airport due to non compliance of visa requirements, we will not be liable and our cancellation policy shall apply.
Please note Andaman and Nicobar Islands is still a remote and budding destination, but in the last few years it is catching up really well amongst Indians. The localities are still trying to cope up in terms of customer handling, as they are unarmed in terms are hospitality services. Service levels and standards cannot be compared with hotels in the mainland.
There is only one 4* hotel in Port Blair, in Andaman Hotels are not categorized by stars, instead Budget, Standard, Deluxe, Luxury, etc., In short Andaman is expensive but not luxury, hence request you to kindly refer to reviews and pictures before freezing on the accommodation.
Andaman is for guests who would want a different experience, spend quality time with the family, sit back and watch time pass by at leisure.
Most of the flights coming into Andaman arrive in the morning, hence all hotels have an early check in and checkout time, and it takes at least an hour to get the room ready for guests arriving in the morning. Request you to kindly co-operate with the hotels as checking out early might be of inconvenience to you.
Request you to kindly check with the hotel for early check in or late check out as the same will be at the discretion of the hotel, subject to room availability.
In regards to check in and checkout time at Havelock, most of the hotels and resorts check out time will be prior to 1200 hrs. Hence it is recommended that guests check out and indulge in activities or hire a car or a two wheeler and explore the island on direct payment and our personnel shall update you on available options. Alternatively guests can also chose to take the 0900 hrs government ferry from Havelock – Port Blair.
Please note that most of the hotels at Havelock, do not have room service, hot water and intercom facility.
Buffet spreads in Andaman cannot be compared to the ones in the mainland, no hotels provides cold cuts or assorted breads, etc., Breakfast is very simple, normally lunch and dinner spread will include 02 Vegetable, 01 Non Vegetarian dishes, Dal, Salad and Papad. We recommend guests to order on ala carte basis, as you will be able to have what you want and it will run down more economical.
Port Blair is more of sightseeing and history, however not very interesting. Please note the below sightseeing places are closed on the mentioned days.
Sunday - Chatam Saw Mill & Forest Museum
Monday - All city tour sites, Baratang & MG National Park
Wednesday - Ross Island
Other than the above mentioned days all sightseeing places are closed on all national holidays and religious occasions and the administration declares the same only on the same day. Hence we shall try to amend the itinerary so that the missed out places are covered during the following days, in case we are unable to do the same, there will no refund offered.
Please note in Andaman most of the cars are owned by the drivers themselves, hence they do not work post 1800 hrs, in case the guest wants to go out for dinner the supplement charge is very high. We provide cars as per the itinerary and not at disposal. Mostly Non A/C Jeeps will be provided at Havelock and Neil Island.
Please note in Andaman consists of very small islands, hence distance between any two places is very short, so Non A/C Cars are fine and A/C Cars will be more expensive. Please note there is limited number of good drivers in Andaman, hence you might find drivers speaking on phone while driving and not adhering to traffic regulations. Cars are also very limited in number and used for multiple pickups and drops, hence there might be a few minutes delay in your pick up, guests are requested not to worry about it. Alternatively you can also call our personnel who would provide you with a real time update.
We do understand that this is a grey area which no guest will be comfortable with, however we believe that it is our duty to provide our guest with a transparent review of the destination. This would not leave you in the dark with surprises that you would not want during a holiday, that too at one of the world's most stunning Destination.
